11/6/09

The Ministry of Youth and Sports and The National Sports Institute of Malaysia recently hosted the Inaugural Malaysia Sports Industry Convention on August 8-9, 2009 in Kuala Lumpur.

Ted Meekma, along with other leading executives from the world of sport in Australia, New Zealand, the U.S. and Malaysia, spoke at the ground-breaking conference. His topic was "Optimizing Private Enterprise in Sports Development."

The objective of the convention was to serve as a catalyst for jumpstarting the proper development of sport as an industry in Malaysia. Its goal was to demonstrate that a sustainable sports industry can produce positive business and economic benefits. In addition, encouraging all Malaysians to take a more active part in sports and recreation will definitely lead to increased levels of health, fitness and national unity.

The convention attracted approx. 1,000 guests and attendees over its successful two day run. One of its highlights was the opening day address by the Prime Minister of Malaysia, Dato' Seri Mohd. Najib bin Tun Haji Abdul Razak.
